Building basics
Age, units, heating type, current controls, winter gas pressure, and whether the building runs hot or complains cold.
Building fit
Look for older Alberta rental apartments with central hydronic heat, high gas use, overheating, cold calls, or controls that do not explain what the plant is doing.
Strong fit
PENGA is strongest where the owner already suspects a familiar pattern: the plant protects the coldest suites by overheating too much of the building, but nobody has clean evidence yet.
Poor first target
A building can be technically interesting and still be a poor first fit if the owner, data, or winter pain is too vague.
First call
The goal is not a generic discovery call. It is a practical yes, maybe, or no on one real asset.
Age, units, heating type, current controls, winter gas pressure, and whether the building runs hot or complains cold.
Who owns decision making, who operates the plant, and which contractor or power engineer belongs in the room.
The answer may be to leave it alone, gather more context, invite the operator, model the opportunity, or start a controls conversation.
